چکیده
Abstract We study theoretically and empirically the relation between altruism incentive contract design. Theoretically, we extend Fischer Huddart (2008) to investigate how social norms reinforce managers’ altruistic preferences, thus affecting optimal design related strength performance measurement. Empirically, draw on notion of an organization’s work climate capture preferences. Using data collected from a sample 557 managers, find that in where managers are mostly out for themselves, firms have lower pay-for-performance sensitivity place greater weight aggregate measures. In addition, respondents report they engage more undesirable actions unproductive costly firm owners. contrast, care about others (including peers their organizational unit), weights At same time, supply effort less actions.

Reference Points, Social Norms, and Fairness in Contract Renegotiations
How does an ex ante contract affect behavior in an ex post renegotiation game? We address this question in a canonical buyer-seller relationship with renegotiation. Our paper provides causal experimental evidence that an initial contract has a highly significant and economically important impact on renegotiation behavior that goes beyond the effect of contracts on bargaining threat points. We c...
متن کاملContract Theory for Incentive Mechanism Design in Cooperative Relaying Networks
Multiuser cooperative communication significantly improves the performance of wireless communication networks. One key challenge of multiuser cooperative communication is how to design a cooperative mechanism to incentivize potential relay nodes to help a source node in its data transmission. In this paper, to address this problem, we apply a contract-based principal-agent framework to a cognit...

متن کاملKin altruism, reciprocal altruism and social discounting
According to evolutionary psychologists, human pro-social behaviour is regulated by evolutionarily developed psychological mechanisms whose role is to solve adaptive problems. The same reasoning can be applied to social discounting, i.e. subjective devaluation of a reward which must be shared with one or more people. Based on reciprocal altruism and inclusive fitness theories, hypotheses were f...
متن کاملAltruism and social integration
We develop a two-stage experimental protocol by which i) we elicit the social network within a group of undergraduate students and ii) we measure their altruistic attitudes by way of a standard Dictator game. We observe that more socially integrated subjects are also more altruistic, as betweenness centrality and reciprocal degree are positively correlated with the level of giving, even after c...
